Kickstarter Campaign Video – "Northwest"
Turning Gameplay Into Emotionally Compelling Storytelling
Client: Brickhouse Games
Project: Kickstarter Campaign Video for Northwest
Role: Director & Cinematographer
Result: $24,039 raised from 648 backers — 480% of the original $5,000 goal
“Succinct, exciting, engaging, and informative—we couldn’t be more thrilled.”
-Rick Hou, Brickhouse Games
The Challenge
Brickhouse Games needed a video that could cut through the noise of a crowded Kickstarter space and emotionally engage tabletop gaming fans. They didn’t just want to explain a game mechanic—they wanted to evoke the feel of the game.
Our Approach
As Director and Cinematographer, I focused on building a cinematic mood rooted in atmosphere and tone. Through layered visuals—slow-motion forest movement, minimalist set design, and macro detail—I helped draw out the feeling of exploration.
We chose a voiceover-led structure, allowing emotion and concept to rise before gameplay mechanics. The video carries the viewer from wonder to connection, anchored by pacing, texture, and authentic visuals.
The Outcome
The campaign launched with the video as its centerpiece. The result? A wildly successful Kickstarter that brought in over $24,000—nearly five times the original goal—with 648 backers supporting the project.
